Los Pueblos was established in 2003, originally named "Florencia's" after the beloved founder, Florencia Smith. She is widely known in the lakes region as the heart and soul behind our authentic Mexican cuisine. Born in Oaxaca, Mexico and raised in Acapulco, she moved to the Okoboji area in 1982 to start a family with her husband, and Okoboji native. She brought with her delicious family recipes from the heart of Mexico as well as a passion for people and the work ethic of her home village.

Locals and tourists alike quicky appreciated her high standards of quality service and delicious cuisine. As a family endevour, Los Pueblos is proud of the reputation we've cultivated over the 18 years we've served the Iowa Great Lakes area. In 2021, Florencia's granddaughter and daughter had the honor and joy of continuing the family business by purchasing the restaurant.
